After briefly reviewing the document, I found myself questioning the absence of international concerns or competences. On page 6, the document specifies the audience as student affairs professionals in the United States, so I can understand and support its assertion that the master's degree is the preferred path for advancement--it is indeed the preferred path in the United States. However, I think our field has a a growing mandate to internationalize in knowledge, procedures, and services to better serve both domestic and international students. I see this mandate coming from our stated desire to be inclusive and promote learning.

Chad - Great post. Gave me a lot to think about. By the way, the quote about the "preferred means" did indeed come from the 2006 report. Points 1 and 2 in the post were quotes from that original document. Just wanted to clarify. Cheers!

I came across your site while I was doing research for my school paper. I was so hooked, I fell way behind on my work. When I get finished doing my research I will be back for more. Thanks for the great post's.
